What is METU Engineering Day?

METU Engineering Day is a competition which is prepared together by Faculty of Engineering of the Middle East Technical University  and BEST (Board of European Students of Technology). The competition takes place in two major parts: poster competition and engineering competition. The poster competition is evaluated under two categories: research and design. Undergraduate students present their research findings or design in the form of a poster. For the engineering competition students work as a team on the day of the event. The teams are given a task early in the morning and they are expected to accomplish this task in a limited time using their imagination and the materials they are given. 

What is the purpose of METU Engineering Day? 

The main purpose of the METU Engineering Day is to develop interdisciplinary working  environment. METU Engineering Day also encourages undergraduate students to present their  research  and designs, enhance their  imagination and meet the faculty members.

How is the assessment being made? 

All of the posters and designs of engineering competition teams are assessed by a jury consisting of faculty members. The evaluations are done during the day for the poster competition and during the presentation of designs at the end of the day for the engineering competition. The winners of the three categories – research poster, design poster and engineering team design competition – are announced at the closing ceremony. The winners of all categories are awarded.
