APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Quota types, eligibility criteria, and required national/international exam scores are defined in the METU Undergraduate Program Transfer Directive.

In inter-institutional transfer applications, program equivalency will be required. Equivalent programs are defined as those with identical names or with at least 80% overlap in content.

Applicants from outside METU must document English proficiency during the application, including those coming from programs where the medium of instruction is entirely English.

Courses taken during summer school and their grades will not be considered in transfer evaluations for the following Fall semester.

In addition to the requirements stated in the directive, the Faculty of Engineering uses the following criteria in ranking applicants:

For applicants to engineering programs:

  • a) Students who entered university between 2010 and 2017 with LYS-MF4 or from 2018 onwards with YKS-SAY, must not have a score difference greater than 40 points between their score and the base score of the program they are applying to in the same year.

  • b) Students placed into their current program via a non-YKS exam and wishing to transfer to a different program must also meet the 40-point maximum difference rule as above.

  • c) Applicants to the Industrial Engineering Department must have taken and passed MATH 119 and MATH 120 (or equivalents) with at least BB, and completed MATH 260 (or equivalent) to be eligible.

  • Non-METU applicants can view their results via: https://application.metu.edu.tr/

For applicants who meet all requirements, the relevant academic units will evaluate their applications. Final acceptance/rejection results will be announced via the Transfer Applications system at: https://application.metu.edu.tr/

COURSE EQUIVALENCY AND ADJUSTMENT (INTIBAK)

For internal transfers within METU, previously completed courses and grades are included in the GPA of the new program (excluding courses considered outside the new program scope). Equivalency adjustments (intibak) are made for courses with different codes
